Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) has just launched two new calls for proposals, including topics which contribute to key EU policies such as the European Green Deal and the '3Rs' goals of replacing, reducing and refining the use of animals in research.

Euresearch will organise an online event on 13 September 2023 about Horizon Europe, the large EU Framework Programme for research and innovation, incl. an overview of the different parts of the programme, tips to identify opportunities and on how to get started, access to funds being based in Switzerland etc.

This event targets researchers and innovators based in or with particular links to Switzerland, who are new to Horizon Europe.

The Cluster 6 Info Days will give potential applicants the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming funding opportunities and their specific requirements for R&I activities in "Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment".

The Brokerage Event is the perfect opportunity to find partners and start building a consortium.

The 2024 ERC Synergy Grant has recently opened, with a deadline for application set on 8 November 2023.

Researchers based in Switzerland are eligible to apply for an ERC Synergy Grant as part of a team of 2-4 PIs to address ambitious research questions (max budget € 10 million).

Euresearch will hold an online ERC-Synergy national information event on 6 September 2023. Register for this event to learn more about the principles and conditions of the Synergy Grant with the ERC-SyG call coordinator, Dr. Agnes Kulcsár, and to hear from past ERC-SyG panel members and successful applicants.

The EC will organise an online information event (11-12 October 2023) aiming to inform interested parties about the upcoming funding opportunities of the 2024 calls of Horizon Europe Cluster 4 "Digital, Industry and Space".

The European Commission has adopted the annual Work Programme 2024 for the European Research Council (ERC), outlining the conditions, regulations, and deadlines of the ERC grants.

The new key elements are updates in the research assessment and evaluation procedure and lump sum funding in Advanced Grants.

As Switzerland remains a non-associated third country, the most relevant upcoming grant call is the ERC Synergy that opens on 12 July 2023.

After the launch of the Swiss Accelerator in 2022, Innosuisse issues the second call for projects in 2023!

Swiss SMEs and start-ups that are established on the market and demonstrate above-average innovation potential can apply for direct financial support for innovation projects within the Swiss Accelerator programme. The Swiss Accelerator is a transitional measure for Horizon Europe in 2023, approved by the Federal Council on 24 May 2023. The implementation of this measure has been entrusted to Innosuisse, funded by the Confederation.

SMEs and start-ups are required to go through a three-stage application process:

1. Short application to be submitted through the Innosuisse online application platform - from 28 August 2023 until 09 October 2023
2. Invitation to submit a full application based on Innosuisse’s evaluation of the short application
3. Based on the evaluation of the full application, invitation to present the application to Innosuisse.
