A note on the Swiss Participation in Horizon 2020
Switzerland participates as an associated country in the Excellence Science Pillar (Pillar I)”, “Spreading excellence and widening participation” of Horizon 2020, the Euratom program and ITER. This means that Swiss entities can participate in calls under the above mentioned parts according to the European Commission’s rules and regulations governing the participation of associated countries, which includes funding by the European Commission (EC).
Switzerland remains a third country participant in all other parts of Horizon 2020 as well as in programs co-funded by Horizon 2020. This includes collaborative projects in Pillar II Industrial Leadership and Pillar III Societal Challenges. The participation of Swiss entities in calls under the non- associated (third country) parts will be funded by the Swiss government. The budget of Swiss partners does not count for the funding requested from the EU.» Read more on this.
